FMB charity golf tournament raises £4,000

A successful charity golf tournament organised by the Reading and County Branch of the Federation of Master Builders, and sponsored by Peppard, has raised £4,000 for worthy causes.

Held at Sonning Golf Club, the event was organised in aid of Help for Heroes and the Air Ambulance service which covers Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

This was the 30th anniversary charity golf day, which in total has raised an incredible £100,000 for various charities.

John Saunders, secretary of the Reading and County Branch of the FMB, who organised the event, said: “This has been another exceptional year where we’ve raised many more thousands of pounds for two great charities.

“We couldn’t have done it without the support of our sponsors, those who donated prizes for our raffle and auction and of course the teams of players themselves who made it such a fantastic day.

“It’s hard to believe that 30 years have passed since our first charity tournament and we have watched the event go from strength to strength. Here’s to helping many more worthy causes in the future.”

Peppard sponsored one of the holes on the golf course for the day.

A total of 24 teams of four players took part with trophies given for best team events, individual score, longest drive and nearest the pin.

The winner of the tournament and the Rex Townsend Trophy was the Morris & Blunt Team. The Individual winner of the Harry Row Trophy was Jamie Cole and the nearest the pin the winner was Chris Hamblin a member of the Young’s Loft Conversion Ltd team.
